July 11 we'll be at Culpeper Airport for the Capital Wing Commemorative Air Force Warbird Showcase. Come see the only pair of U.S. Coast Guard warbirds in the USA flying together. Should be back in town the following weekend for our regular Saturday "walk-up" rides.
Helmet & Goggles Biplane Rides is resuming all flights. The open-cockpit provides ideal social-distancing, and safe-practices are being employed. Father's Day Gift Certificates are available for all our rides. And we have just added an HD video option for your ride!
The COVID pandemic has certainly thrown everyone a curveball. Airshows are canceled, businesses are shut down, and social-distancing guidelines are in place. Helmet & Goggles is looking forward to resuming flying rides as soon as we reasonably can. When the time comes, be assured that appropriate protocols will be in place for everyone's well-being.
We'll still be available for those hardy souls who want to wrap up in layers and experience a cool weather ride on Fall and Winter days when the temperature is above 50 degrees. We draw the line there since our plane is not particularly fond of cold weather flying and have found most passengers aren't either.
We'll be at the Leesburg (VA) Airshow leesburgairshow.com/ this weekend (Sept. 28) with other amazing aircraft. Hope to see many of you there. Then we'll be on the road for the first three weekends in October but plan to be back in Fredericksburg VA for the last two weeks of October.
Missed flying everyone around for the last two weekends while I was away at the Stearman National Fly-in at Galesburg, IL and a formation clinic at Oshkosh, WI. We'll be back up and running this week ready to give more rides out of Shannon Airport.
We'll be flying rides for the next two weekends (Aug 17 & 24) but will then be unavailable until Sept 14 since we'll be attending the National Stearman Fly-in out in IL where over 50 Stearmans will be gathering. Sorry for the break in service. We hope you can get your ride in before we head out.
Helmet & Goggles had a record month in July and is poised for an even busier August! Thanks to all of you for spreading the word.
We've flown people from a little 7 year-old girl (exceptionally mature) to an 84 year-old gentleman with bad knees who wasn't sure he could get in and out of the cockpit (he did with flying colors). The universal reaction is, "That's the coolest thing I've ever done!"
We especially love surprise flights for birthdays and other milestones. We even had a Dad bring his daughter for a surprise ride to celebrate her cancer recovery! It is wonderful to be a part of people's lives and share the exhilaration and beauty of open-cockpit biplane flying.
Hope to see you all soon. We'll be out doing some formation flying from August 8 thru 12 (no rides those dates), but you can book your rides any other time.
Helmet and Goggles has been thrilling people with an experience and sights of the Fredericksburg area they could not have imagined. Everyone leaves with a huge smile! Cool off behind our 8' fan now that the summer heat is here!
Last weekend was a real hit for the fathers who received biplane rides for Father's Day presents from their families. This weekend Shannon Airport is hosting a "Women Can Fly" event with many exhibits promoting opportunities for women and young ladies to connect with aviation. We're offering a 10% discount to all those of the female gender who want to experience what early women aviation pioneers did.
