Helmet & Goggles had another first yesterday... a gender reveal fly-by for an expectant couple waiting to learn whether they were having a son or a daughter. Five pounds of colored powder were released giving them their answer.

This Spring weather is providing us with some great flight opportunities. Flew a Recon Mission yesterday that treated us to a rare sight at the confluence of the Rapidan (on the right) and Rappahannock where one of the rivers is muddy and the other clear due to a localized heavy rainfall the night before. Here's a shot where the distinct waters begin to churn and mix together. Moments later we saw two bald eagles flying over Hunting Run Reservoir!
Our plane just passed its FAA annual inspection with flying colors [no pun intended] and is all serviced and ready for the 2021 flying season. We will be gone from home base more Saturdays this year flying at events with the Commemorative Air Force around the area but will still offer our popular Saturday "walk-up" rides when we're in town. Pre-booking your flight is recommended so you're not disappointed and can schedule the time and ride you want. However, you are welcome to come out on the spur of the moment if you'd like, and we can usually accommodate you. Rides during the week may always be scheduled from this website.
Our thanks to everyone who participated in our most unusual season yet. We overcame the challenges presented by COVID and the cancellation of every airshow we were scheduled to appear in! However, teaming up with the Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force and reaching out to the greater Fredericksburg community, we flew just under 200 rides for a new season record! The Stearman is looking forward to some well-deserved down time now but looks forward to seeing you all next Spring.
Time is short to bid on the FLVG Veterans Day flyover. 100% of your bid goes to Vet Charities! You are bidding on a ride in the front seat of our open-cockpit biplane for the opening ceremony flyover. Smoke on as we fly over Fawn Lake!
www.charityauctionstoday.com/auctions/Fawn-Lake-Veterans-Golf-Tournament-2020-15866 Fall colors are beginning to pop. Temperatures are near perfect. Bring your camera and experience the gorgeous VA Fall carpet from an aerial perspective as never before.
Unfortunately it looks like the weather will cancel the planned Arsenal of Democracy Flyover of DC this year. However, those lucky people who took a VIP ride this past week were treated to a sight of all the planes in town for the event while they were parked at the ramp. Here are a few pictures we took as we got up close and personal.
We flew a record 26 rides last weekend (Aug 22-23) at Richmond's Hanover Airport! One passenger summed it up well... "The weather was great, the plane was wonderful and the pilot was excellent." Hoping to go for a new record this weekend at Culpeper.
We'll be on the road for the next three weekends thru Labor Day (Aug 22-Sep 7) flying local airshows at Richmond's Hanover Airport and Culpeper Airport with the Commemorative Air Force. But we are still available for rides during the week by appointment. Been a very busy year so far. This is prime flying season now, so come on out and fly.
July 11 we'll be at Culpeper Airport for the Capital Wing Commemorative Air Force Warbird Showcase. Come see the only pair of U.S. Coast Guard warbirds in the USA flying together. Should be back in town the following weekend for our regular Saturday "walk-up" rides.
